Libya’s Supreme Committee to Combat Coronavirus, affiliated to the Interim Government, announced the imposition of a 2,000 Libyan dinar (LYD) fine for commercial stores that violate government orders to remain closed.
The Committee, headed by Abdel-Razak Al-Nathouri, stressed the need to follow the government’s curfew between the hours of 7pm-7am.
The government’s goal is to prevent gatherings within popular markets, shops and parks to stem the spread of the virus.
Al-Nathouri recommended the closure of large supermarkets, all clothing shops and all stores that do not provide basic services to citizens.
These measures are to be implemented starting on Monday, 18 May.
