On Saturday, the Libyan National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported three new COVID-19 cases in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Libya to 75.

In its latest statement, the NCDC added that the last batch of 149 suspected cases had all tested negative for the virus. Libya currently has 33 active cases under medical observation, 35 successful recoveries and 3 deaths. Last week, the head of NCDC, Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, announced that that the centre has begun conducting a community-based epidemiological survey to estimate the scale of the COVID-19 infection in the country.

Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel with the aim of curbing the spread of the virus. Trillions of dollars have been pledged in economic stimulus packages around the world to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
