On Saturday, the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, said that every Turkish soldier and Syrian fighter in Libya were now deemed legitimate targets by the LNA.
In a prerecorded message published by the General Command of the Armed Forces on the advent of Eid Al-Fitr, Haftar greeted LNA forces who were on the frontlines.
“You are facing a hateful colonialist who is seeking to control our lands by all means with the assistance of some dishonorable Libyan spies and traitors.”, Haftar said.
The LNA Commander urged to continue fighting against Turkey and their loyalists until their departure from Libya.
Haftar said they were fighting “a holy and open war on all fronts […] a war that will not end until our victory, as we are accustomed to defeating terrorism.”
The LNA has been engaged in a war to take Tripoli from the UN-recognised Government of National Accord (GNA).
The GNA is backed by a loose coalition of Libyan armed groups and Turkey, which has sent arms and Syrian fighters to assist the Tripoli-based government.
