The Libyan National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) reported two new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 77.

In its latest statement, the NCDC added that the most recent batch of 64 suspected cases had all tested negative for the virus. Last week, the head of the NCDC, Dr.Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, announced that that the center had begun conducting community-based epidemiological surveys to estimate the extent to which the virus has spread in Libya.

Libya currently has 32 active cases under medical observation, 40 successful recoveries, and 3 deaths. Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel with the aim of curbing the spread of the virus. Trillions of dollars have been pledged in economic stimulus packages around the world to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
