Libyan City on Total Lockdown for 10 Days Because of Coronavirus

Local authorities in the city of Ghat, southwest of Libya, announced the closure of the city’s borders for 10 days in order to confront the Coronavirus epidemic in the country. The lockdown includes entry and exit to the city.

According to a decree issued by Ghat’s municipality on Friday, the city’s borders will be completely closed for 10 days, in addition to a curfew within the municipality’s borders which will last from 6 pm to 6 am of the following day.

The city of Ghat lies within the Libyan western desert at the Libyan-Algerian border and has a population of approximately 23,000 people.

The total number of Coronavirus cases recorded in Libya so far is 105, including 59 active cases, 41 recoveries and 5 deaths.
