Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, emphasized that the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) remained as the framework and basis for any political settlement in Libya. It was signed in the Moroccan city of Skhirat in 2015.

This came during a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Government of National Accord (GNA), Mohamed Siala. The two Ministers discussed the necessity of extending coordination and cooperation between the countries.

Siala briefed his Moroccan counterpart on the latest military and political developments in Libya, given the recent military advancements made by the GNA.

On the 27th of April, the General Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, Khalifa Haftar, declared the cancellation of the Skhirat Agreement.
