During a telephone conversation on Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, confirmed their determination for peaceful reconciliation efforts in Libya.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the two exchanged views on a number of developments in Libya and “confirmed their common intention to provide assistance in creating the conditions for reconciliation between the warring parties, in favor of a political and diplomatic settlement under the auspices of United Nations”.
The Ministry added that the two sides also stressed “the need to appoint a new Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Libya as soon as possible”.
