UK Minister: No Alternative To Political Solution In Libya

The British Minister of State for the Middle East and North African Affairs (MENA), James Cleverly, has stressed there was no alternative to a political solution in Libya. This came during a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj. They discussed the latest developments in Libya, as well as bilateral relations.

Cleverly stressed the UK’s condemnation of the mass graves recently discovered in the city of Tarhuna. He announced his full support for the investigations being conducted by GNA authorities.

Since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has been marred by chaos. There have been two ruling powers in the conflict – the GNA in Tripoli, and a parallel Interim Government supported by the Libyan National Army (LNA) in the east of the country.
