On Wednesday, France’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was leading Libya into a war of “madness”, Al-Arabiya reported.

Ankara intervened militarily in the conflict in Libya to support the Government of National Accord (GNA) with weapons and foreign fighters against the Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Khalifa Haftar.

The French parliamentarian said that “Egypt and France will not accept Turkey’s breach of its pledges of the Berlin Conference”, stressing that “the tragedy of Libya exceeds its borders and the situation may get out of control”.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi threatened to intervene in Libya should the GNA capture the city of Sirte, which he described as a “red line”.

On Tuesday, Arab League Foreign Ministers rejected all types of foreign interference in Libya and called for an immediate ceasefire between the parties.
