The “Ways of Peace” battalion of the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in the city of Kufra confiscated a number of 18 small cars that were smuggled into Sudan.

The battalion continuously operates patrols as a precautionary measure to combat and limit the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, in accordance with the decision of the Commander-in-Chief of the General Command regarding the closure of borders with neighbouring countries.

“Unfortunately these days, there were many voices to defend the smugglers and legalise smuggling on the pretext of work and living conditions, etc” the battalion said in a statement on Friday.

“What the battalion is intensifying patrols in the desert, especially in these times and continuously, aims to protect the borders and sovereignty of the state and prevent diseases from entering,” it added. “The battalion confirms that it is still continuing in patrols and combatting these phenomena.”
