On Wednesday, the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU) announced that foreign nationals will be able to apply for Libyan visas electronically starting from Thursday.
This initiative, set to commence on the first of May, marks the launch of the e-visa system specifically designed for foreign workers entering Libya, following the completion of all necessary procedural and legal steps related to work visas.
This digital initiative, officially launching on May 1st, is aimed at streamlining the visa acquisition for foreign workers, as confirmed by the Libyan government’s online announcement.
The development of the e-visa system is a collaborative effort involving Libya’s Holding Company for Communications, the Passport and Nationality Affairs Authority, and the General Information Authority.
State Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumaa, emphasized that this digital visa service is a pioneering project in Libya, expected to modernize the entry process for foreign labor.
Labor and Rehabilitation Minister Ali Al-Abed highlighted the system’s potential to eradicate bureaucratic delays and corruption, thereby enhancing the regulation of foreign labor inflow.
