Foreign powers deliberately prolong the Libyan crisis: Dlaaf

A member of the Constituent Assembly of Libya, Mustafa Dlaaf, said that foreign powers that wield authority in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) deliberately prolong the Libyan crisis for political ends.

In an interview on Libya Channel, Delaaf added that the United Nations and its envoys to Libya are simply a means for these countries to exercise influence on Libya. He noted that former SRSG Ghassan Salame failed to manage the Libyan crisis because he was not aware of many things.

Libya can solve its problems and reach a political agreement if foreign countries do not interfere in the internal affairs of the country, he added.

The Constituent Assembly of Libya is the body responsible for writing a new constitution for Libya. It was elected on 20 February 2014 and sits in Bayda, eastern Libya.
