Russian Federation Council To Enhance Parliamentary Cooperation With Libyan Parliament

The Chairperson of the Federation Council of Russia’s Parliament, Valentina Matviyenko, told ‘Sputnik’ news agency on Friday that the Federal Council expected to enhance parliamentary cooperation with Libya’s Parliament, the House of Representatives (HoR).

Matviyenko’s speech was delivered after a meeting with HoR Speaker Ageela Saleh in Moscow.

She noted that Russia appreciated Saleh’s desire to contribute to resolving complex problems in Libya by seeking solutions that satisfy all parties.

“We follow carefully and sympathetically the events in Libya and we hope and try in every possible way to overcome this stage in the lives of the Libyans, until it becomes a prosperous country again” she said.

“This is not the first time that you have visited Russia, where it is a real pleasure for me to have the opportunity to meet you and exchange views as we look forward to a fruitful conversation regarding the situation in Libya”, Matviyenko added.
