On Sunday, thousands took to the streets of Benghazi to demonstrate against Turkey’s interference in Libya’s civil war.
The protests came in conjunction with new military operations launched by the Libyan National Army (LNA) against Al-Watiya airbase, which is controlled by Turkey.
The LNA claims it has destroyed a recently installed Turkish air defense system belonging to the Tripoli based Government of National Accord (GNA).
The Libyan demonstrators held pictures of LNA Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and banners in support of the LNA. They condemned foreign intervention in Libya, especially by Turkey.
Turkey has transferred thousands of foreign fighters and weapons to the GNA in Tripoli.
Turkey’s support for the GNA has helped tilt the balance of war in its favour. This has allowed GNA forces to retake several towns and push LNA forces out of western Libya.
