On Sunday, the Director-General of the Libyan Reconstruction and Development Fund, Belgassim Haftar, signed new contracts with the Egyptian company Arab Contractors to construct several bridges in flood-affected areas of Al Jabal al Akhdar (the Green Mountain) region.
This significant step is part of ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure in the damaged areas.
The projects will focus on constructing several vital bridges, including Wadi Al-Hussain Bridge, Wadi Al-Kouf Bridge, and Al-Kharouba Bridge.
According to a statement from the Derna Reconstruction Fund, the contracts were signed with specialized companies to ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency. These efforts aim to rebuild the affected areas, improve the road and bridge network, facilitate the movement of citizens and goods, and foster economic development.
On his part, Haftar expressed his satisfaction with signing these contracts, anticipating that these projects would significantly improve infrastructure and support stability in the affected regions. He affirmed the fund’s dedication to executing projects with the highest quality and sustainability standards.
This development follows the signing of contracts for six projects in Derna and Green Mountain cities with the Egyptian company Neom, a subsidiary of the Egyptian Al-Argani Group, as announced by the fund on Saturday. On January 21, the Parliament-designated government, led by Osama Hammad, announced the signing of major contracts with Egyptian companies to construct 11 new bridges distributed among Derna, Benghazi, and Ajdabiya, including six in Derna and three in Benghazi.
