Hannibal Gaddafi, the son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, currently detained by Lebanese authorities since 2015, has called on the Lebanese judiciary to summon former minister Wi’am Wahhab, seeking information Wahhab may have regarding the 1978 disappearance of Lebanese Shia cleric Musa al-Sadr.
According to the Russian news agency Sputnik, a source close to Hannibal stated, “I demand the Lebanese judiciary to review any information that could help uncover the truth about the case of the missing Imam Musa al-Sadr.”
Hannibal indicated that the former minister Wahhab claimed in a television interview on Al Ghad channel that he had information about the fate of the missing Imam, which was disclosed to him by Muammar Gaddafi during a previous meeting.
The son of Gaddafi has requested the judicial investigator in the case of Imam Musa al-Sadr to treat Wahhab’s statements as a formal notification and to listen to the information Wahhab has to offer.
He noted that if the former minister’s statements are untrue, it would mislead the investigation, but if they are proven true, then Wahhab holds the entire truth.
Hannibal affirmed that in either case, if the claimants in the case, the judicial investigator, and the Amal Movement truly seek the truth, they must act immediately to review the information provided by the former minister Wahhab.
Former Lebanese minister Wi’am Wahhab recently disclosed to Al Ghad channel that he possesses information about the disappearance of al-Sadr, which he learned during his meeting with Muammar Gaddafi, but he cannot reveal it to avoid complications. He also disclosed that Imam al-Sadr was no longer present within the first three days of his disappearance.
