On Wednesday, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, received the CEO of Italian oil company ENI, Claudio Descalzi, in Tripoli.
The meeting aimed to discuss efforts to reopen the country’s oil fields and was attended by the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanalla.
During the meeting, Descalzi reaffirmed his company’s full commitment to its operational activities and projects in the country.
He reiterated ENI’s commitment to social investment, particularly in reference to the initiatives undertaken to support the NOC in providing protective medical, diagnosis, and critical treatment equipment in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They focused on the progress of the mega project ‘Structures A&E’ which will extend the gas production plateau of Bahr Essalam and ensure the supply of gas to the local market.
Moreover, the NOC and ENI are evaluating the possibility to further develop the Bouri oil field, targeting the undeveloped western and northern areas.
ENI is the main international hydrocarbon producer in Libya, where it currently produces 170,000 barrels of oil per day. Descalzi also paid tribute to the NOC’s strenuous efforts to end the more than six month long blockade that has halted production from Libyan onshore oilfields, including fields in which ENI has a stake (El-Feel and Abu-Attifel).
