Libyan House of Representatives Speaker Ageela Saleh emphasised that closer ties between Egypt and Turkey are crucial for regional peace and stability.

He stated that such cooperation serves the interests of both nations and will aid in resolving the Libyan crisis.

In an interview with “Sputnik”, Saleh noted that the rapprochement between Egypt and Turkey could help facilitate the withdrawal of foreign forces from Libya.

He explained that this partnership would ease tensions, prevent the possibility of war, and contribute to international efforts in bringing the Libyan parties together to find a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

Saleh reiterated Libya’s stance on the removal of all foreign forces from its territory, insisting that no foreign troops should remain in the country.

He also highlighted that previous Turkish military presence had been authorised by the former Government of National Accord.

He stressed the need for an internationally recognised government to renegotiate or invalidate any unauthorised agreements made by the previous administration.
