In a phone call on Wednesday evening, Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi exchanged views with French President Emmanuel Macron on recent developments in Libya.
El-Sisi confirmed Egyptian efforts to settle the Libyan crisis in a manner that would implement the will of the Libyan people, preserve their national resources, unity, and territorial integrity, while simultaneously preserve Egyptian national security, according to Presidential spokesman Bassam Radi.
Radi pointed out that President Macron praised Egyptian efforts to establish security and stability in Libya in the context of the ‘Cairo Declaration’, as an extension of the Berlin process to settle the Libyan crisis.
“The two Presidents agreed on the importance of undermining illegal foreign intervention in Libyan territory. These use armed militias and terrorist organizations for their interests, at the expense of stability in Libya and regional security as a whole.” the spokesman said.
“It was also agreed to continue joint coordination in the coming period between the two countries to support efforts to settle the conflict”, he added.
