UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held telephone calls with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron during which they reviewed several regional and international issues of mutual interest.

A special emphasis was placed on the latest development in Libya.

In the call with Chancellor Merkel, the two parties stressed the importance of working together to avoid a military escalation in the Libyan crisis, which harmed peace efforts and increased the suffering of the civilian population.

They also addressed the need to push for the implementation of the proposed political initiatives for a peaceful solution.

The conversation also tackled the efforts made globally to curb the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In talks with the French President, the UAE Crown Prince discussed ways of further developing the strategic partnership between the UAE and France.

They agreed on the importance of enhancing security and peace in the region and resolving the Libyan conflict through peaceful means and dialogue.

The Crown Prince congratulated President Macron on his country’s Bastille Day celebrated on 14 July, wishing France and its people continuous progress and prosperity.

The global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the two countries’ efforts to contain its fallout on various fronts were discussed during the call.
