The head of Tobruk’s Municipal Council, Faraj Bul Khattabiya, called for measures to be taken to prevent illegal migration and warned against the entry of migrants carrying diseases into Libya without any monitoring mechanisms in place.

On Friday, Boul Khattabiya echoed the Interior Ministry’s instructions to close restaurants and cafes and called on civilians to cooperate with the measures starting on Saturday 14 March.

Precautionary measures being taken by the eastern-based Interim Government so far include the closure of all cafes and the suspension of classes for a period of two weeks, starting on March 15.
