According to the Turkish channel TRT, Turkey’s Defense Minister Hulusi Akar received Libya’s Government of National Accord’s (GNA) Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha in Ankara on Monday.
During a recent visit to Libya, the Turkish Defence Minister said that “Turkey will stay in Libya forever… will not withdraw from it, and there is no solution in the region without Turkey”.
Referring to the GNA, Akar added during a visit to the TCG Giresun warship off the Libyan coast, “At sea, by land, or even in the blue homeland, wherever we have sovereignty, we perform everything we can. We have duties… We have in the region a shared history spanning 500 years… Our grandparents withdrew from the region, but we will do everything we can for justice and right within the framework of international law. We will stay here forever with our Libyan brothers”.
He discussed Turkey’s ongoing activities in the eastern Mediterranean, stating that “the Turkish naval forces in the Mediterranean, the Aegean, and the Black Sea are performing all their duties in the best way”.
