On Sunday, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar praised the National Development Agency for its pivotal role in Libya’s reconstruction efforts and its commitment to sustainable agricultural projects.
The agency, which operates under the LNA’s guidance, is responsible for restoring essential infrastructure and developing high-quality, environmentally friendly projects to boost Libya’s agricultural sector and enhance the nation’s self-sufficiency.
Haftar’s remarks came during a meeting at the LNA headquarters in Al-Rajma, Benghazi, where he met with Jibril Al-Badri, Head of the National Development Agency. Also present were Chief of Security Units Khalid Haftar and Director of the Commander’s Office Ayoub Al-Farjani.
The discussion covered the agency’s recent achievements in cities across Libya, where it has been actively working to improve public facilities, support sustainable development, and create job opportunities for Libyan youth.
The National Development Agency, established in February to succeed the Tariq Bin Ziyad Services and Production Organization, is a major investment arm under the LNA. Its initiatives span infrastructure rehabilitation, economic projects, housing developments, and agricultural enhancements, with its core offices in Benghazi and Sirte.
Led by Jibril Al-Badri and Executive Director Mahmoud Al-Farjani, the agency has taken on a significant role in coordinating government and private efforts to rebuild vital facilities and enhance public services. According to its website, the agency’s mission is to maintain and advance public infrastructure, contributing directly to Libya’s overall stability and economic growth.
Libya’s reconstruction needs are extensive following years of conflict, which left much of the nation’s infrastructure in disrepair. Since the 2011 uprising and subsequent power struggles, Libya has faced ongoing political fragmentation, severely impacting its economy.
The National Development Agency’s current focus on agricultural projects addresses this by boosting local production, supporting environmental sustainability, and offering employment to young Libyans. These projects, aligned with the LNA’s priorities and with Haftar’s support, play an essential role in restoring stability and fostering economic resilience.
