Libyan Parliament spokesman Abdullah Blehaq said in a press statement that “the Egyptian Parliament’s decision came in response to the speech of the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HOR), Ageela Saleh, before the Egyptian Parliament”.
Blehaq added that the Egyptian decision also came in response to the call of their Libyan brothers and the tribal representatives, who recently met with President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi.
The tribal leaders of Libya called for Egypt to protect the security of Libya and Egypt, and to address the foreign ambitions of Turkey in Libya.
“Turkey has not stopped violating UN Security Council resolutions and international resolutions that ban the supply of arms. It is constantly sending arms, equipment, and mercenaries to support armed militias”.
“The decision of the Egyptian Parliament also came to protect the security of Libya, Egypt, and the region from the Turkish colonial ambitions that are aimed at plundering the region’s wealth and sowing chaos, destruction, and instability,” he said.
He claimed that the Egyptian decision will contribute to achieving security, stability, and thwart militia rule, which is supported by Turkey and other countries.
“We salute the brotherly Egyptian people, President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi, and the heads and members of the Egyptian Parliament, for the courageous position that embodies the depth of relations between the two countries and Arab solidarity. Egypt has been, and will remain the ‘beating heart of Arabism,’ ” the spokesman concluded.
