On Tuesday, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that the only solution in Libya was a political solution, adding that those who are seeking a military solution will be frustrated.
In a press conference with his Nigerien counterpart Kalla Ankourao in the capital Niamey, Çavuşoğlu pointed out that his country has reiterated that a political solution is the only way out of crisis in Libya.
He noted that those who turn their back on a political solution in Libya should know they do so in vain: “There is no other way.”
Turkey has recently transferred thousands of Syrian mercenaries into Libya to back the Government of National Accord (GNA) in its war against the Libyan National Army (LNA).
In June, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi warned that Cairo has a legitimate right to intervene in war-torn Libya, describing Sirte and Al-Jufra as a “red line” for Egypt.
He also said any intervention by Egypt would mainly be aimed at protecting Egypt’s western border, achieving a ceasefire, and restoring stability and peace in Libya.
