On Thursday, Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj met with Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani, in Istanbul. They discussed the latest developments in Libya and bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two stressed the importance of reaching a political solution to the crisis in accordance with the Skhirat agreement, UN Security Council resolutions, and the outputs of the Berlin Conference.
Al-Sarraj and Al-Thani agreed to closer cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Qatar’s Ambassador to Libya Sheikh Muhammad bin Nasser Al-Thani also attended the meeting.
The GNA’s Minister of Interior Fathi Bashagha thanked the “positive stance of the state of Qatar with the GNA” during the recent conflict. This came during a meeting with Bashagha, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of the State of Qatar, Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Attiyah, and the Undersecretary of the Libyan Ministry of Defense, Salah Al-Namroush, at the headquarters of the Turkish Ministry of Defense in Ankara.
