On Thursday, Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi discussed recent developments in Libya in a telephone call with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm stance over the situation in Libya, especially with regard to undermining foreign intervention which he argues is exacerbating the security situation in a way that negatively affects the stability of the entire region.

Prime Minister Mitsotakis praised the Egyptian efforts aimed at settling the conflict and restoring peace in Libya.

He also stressed the importance of working to return to political negotiations as the sole way out of the crisis. This must be in line with the relevant UN resolutions and the resolutions of the Berlin Conference.

Mitsotakis also voiced his complete rejection of any external interference in the North African country.

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation that brings the two countries together at various levels, including within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece.
