Egyptian MP: Egypt will Not Allow Division of Libya

On Sunday, Ashraf Rashad, Member of the Egyptian Parliament, stated that Egypt will not allow any attempts to divide Libya, or threaten its sovereignty.

In press statements, he pointed out that Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was trying to restore Ottoman colonialism to the Arab world. Rashad vowed that these plans would never come to fruition.

He noted that a political solution was the only way to end the Libyan crisis. The MP pointed out Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry’s recent statements, in which he stressed that “Egypt continues to insist on a political solution in Libya, even though the issue is extremely dangerous”. He also discussed the firm position held by President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi, who has publicly announced that Cairo would directly intervene in Libya, if deemed necessary.

Rashad stated that President Erdogan will inevitably be defeated in Libya, as millions of Libyans stood against Turkey’s interference in the conflict.
