Libya’s Development and Reconstruction Fund Director General, Engineer Belqassim Haftar, met with a British Petroleum (BP) delegation to discuss expanding energy cooperation.
The BP team, which included Brad Fernandes, the Deputy Director General and Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department, along with the Evaluation Manager and the BP Libya Office Director, held constructive discussions on joint development in the energy sector.
The meeting focused on ways to strengthen collaboration between BP and the Libyan Fund, particularly in the energy field.
They explored possible initiatives aimed at enhancing the development and reconstruction efforts within Libya. The exchange is seen as part of Libya’s broader strategy to attract international investment and boost its energy sector.
BP, a leading energy company, has long been involved in Libyan operations. The company’s expertise in the sector is considered crucial to helping the country meet its energy demands and stimulate economic recovery.
The talks between the two sides come amid growing international interest in Libya’s energy potential, especially as the country looks to rebuild and stabilize following years of unrest. Libya, with its vast energy reserves, remains a key player in the global energy market.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing on the need for further dialogue and collaboration to enhance Libya’s energy sector, with the Development and Reconstruction Fund offering vital support for these initiatives.
