Libyan Parliament Speaker Ageela Saleh met with Turkish Ambassador to Libya Güven Begeç on Monday in Qubah. The meeting focused on recent developments across various sectors and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Parliament spokesperson Abdullah Bliheg stated that the discussions addressed ways to enhance collaboration between Libya and Turkey in economic, political, and developmental areas.

During his visit, Ambassador Begeç also travelled to Benghazi, where he held meetings with key Libyan officials, including the head of Benghazi’s Municipal Council, Minister of Civil Aviation in the parliament-appointed government, Hisham Abu Shkiwat, and the Secretary-General of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Khairi Al-Tamimi.

The ambassador’s discussions with Benghazi officials centred on resuming direct Turkish Airlines flights to and from Benghazi, starting Tuesday. They also explored opportunities for business partnerships and leveraging Turkish expertise in infrastructure and reconstruction projects.

In a separate meeting, Al-Tamimi and Ambassador Begeç discussed further cooperation between Turkey and the LNA. Al-Tamimi shared details of the meeting on his Facebook page, highlighting the importance of mutual interests and development initiatives.

The Turkish ambassador’s visit underscores Ankara’s continued interest in fostering stronger ties with Libya, focusing on infrastructure development, economic partnerships, and direct aviation links.
