On Tuesday, the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Ageela Saleh, arrived in Jordan on a two-day official visit.

In a statement, the Parliament’s media advisor, Abdel-Hamid Al-Safi, said that Saleh is scheduled to hold talks with senior officials, including his Jordanian counterpart, Atef Tarawneh, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi.

Saleh is due to discuss his proposed political initiative, and the Cairo Declaration, aiming to reach a comprehensive solution to the conflict, in accordance with the outputs of the Berlin Conference.

On Monday, Saleh concluded his successful visit to Morocco, where he met with his Moroccan counterpart, and a number of senior officials in Rabat. The Speaker’s visit to Morocco aims to engage the Kingdom in helping to end the crisis. He proposed his initiative to form a new presidential council, consisting of a president and two deputies, that would represent the three historical regions of Libya. As well as an independent government, that would pave the way for future parliamentary, and presidential elections.

The current conflict in Libya pits the Government of National Accord (GNA), led by Prime Minister, Fayez Al-Sarraj, against the Libyan National Army (LNA), commanded by Field Marshall Khalifa Haftar.
