Libyan Airlines has denied social media reports claiming an engine fire on one of its flights from Mitiga International Airport to Istanbul. The airline clarified in a statement on Tuesday that the incident, which occurred late Monday night, involved a minor technical issue.

According to the statement posted on its official Facebook page, the crew managed the situation efficiently and in accordance with international safety standards. “The aircraft returned safely to Mitiga Airport,” the statement read, emphasising that the safety of passengers and crew was maintained throughout the incident.

The airline reassured the public that no injuries or damage occurred to either passengers or crew members. It added that the company remains committed to adhering to rigorous safety protocols and maintaining the highest standards of operational efficiency.

The incident had raised concerns among social media users after unverified claims circulated about a fire in one of the plane’s engines. Libyan Airlines has called for caution regarding the dissemination of false information and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency in its operations.

The return of the aircraft to Mitiga International Airport without any harm underscores the company’s emphasis on passenger safety and its readiness to handle emergencies effectively.
