On Wednesday, the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), and the Chairman of the Supreme Committee to Combat Coronavirus Abdelrazek Al-Nathouri, conducted a sudden visit to the Al Marj Teaching Hospital. They were accompanied by the Minister of Health of the Libyan Interim Government, Saad Agoub.

The visit aims to follow up on the progress of the hospital, and get a closer look at the medical services provided to patients.

The Supreme Committee, and the accompanying
delegation were briefed on the functioning of a number of departments including the clinical and emergency departments.

This comes within the framework of supporting and uniting efforts, regulating workflow, developing emergency systems and services to ensure the efficiency and the safety of patients. This is in addition to ensuring the rapid delivery of emergency services and treatment.

During the tour, Agoub imposed penalties on negligence he discovered during the visit.
Agoub explained that these sanctions are to ensure the health and safety of citizens, prevent the spread of COVID-19, and achieve the commitment of everyone to implement precautionary and preventive measures.

On Tuesday, the National Centre for Disease Control reported 161 new COVID-19 cases, and 3 deaths. This brings the total confirmed cases to 4,224, and the death toll to 96.

Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel to curb the spread of the virus. Trillions of dollars have been pledged in economic stimulus packages around the world to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
