The Sirte Free Zone (SFZ) announced the successful docking of the Turkish cargo vessel Letof, which arrived from Gemlik Port in Turkey carrying around 1,000 tonnes of general goods.

According to a statement from SFZ, the unloading and handling of the containers began immediately after docking, with the operation completed smoothly and efficiently. Officials described the process as a clear demonstration of the port’s growing operational readiness.

The arrival of Letof marks another significant milestone for Sirte’s port operations, as the Free Zone continues to expand its role in facilitating trade flows. The port’s management noted that each successful docking strengthens confidence among shipping companies and underlines the increasing reliability of Sirte as a commercial hub.

The Free Zone also highlighted that ongoing development and upgrading works are enhancing the port’s infrastructure and capacity. These improvements are part of broader efforts to position Sirte as a competitive gateway on Libya’s maritime map, linking trade between the Mediterranean and the heart of the country.

Observers say the port’s growing activity signals a revival of Sirte’s role in the national economy. The smooth handling of shipments such as the latest Turkish cargo is seen as proof of progress towards operational excellence and integration into Libya’s wider logistics network.

With continued investments in facilities, loading equipment, and logistics services, SFZ aims to attract more international shipping lines, supporting both local businesses and foreign trade. The arrival of vessels like Letof is expected to accelerate the port’s development trajectory, contributing to Libya’s efforts to diversify trade routes and strengthen economic recovery.
