The head of the consular section of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ivan Valenki, announced that Turkey has not confirmed any information concerning the whereabouts of two Russian detainees in Libya.
“Regarding the interrogation of Maxim Shugalei and Samir Suivan in Turkey, we doubt the reliability of this information. This information has not been confirmed during contacts with our Turkish partners”, Sputnik news agency quoted Valenki.
Al-Hadath TV reported, that the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) had allegedly transferred the Russian citizens to Turkey.
The Russian Charge D’Affaires in Libya, Jamshid Poltayev, told Sputnik that the GNA has not yet confirmed the information related to the release of Russian citizens.
The Russian MoFA had earlier received written assurances from the GNA, that this issue would be solved in the near future. Both Shugalei, and Suivan were arrested in Libya in May 2019 on espionage charges.
