The Director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, denied that the Center had received 2,000 respirators or millions of Euros in funds from the World Health Organization (WHO).

In a press conference on Wednesday, Al-Najjar said that the NCDC has never received an alleged €650 million euros from the World Health Organization (WHO), as mentioned by the head of the Medical Advisory Committee in Benghazi Dr. Fathia Al-Uraibi in media statements.

“The director of the World Health Organization’s office in Libya denied her statements. Perhaps she conveyed false information to Dr. Fathia Al-Uraibi”, Al-Najjar said.

He pointed out that the support provided by the organization is in-kind assistance, such as training of the Center’s technical personnel.

The NCDC Director also denied receiving 2000 respirators, as the Center is specialized in community health issues. He indicated that providing curative medical service is the responsibility of the Ministry of Health.
