On Thursday, the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) pledged to facilitate the work of civil aviation and to open airports in the southwest and east alike on the condition that incoming and outgoing aircrafts land at Benina International Airport.
A security inspection will be conducted on the planes to ensure the identity of the passengers. This will also prevent the transport of terrorists and mercenaries from the west to the south of the country as a security precaution due to the circumstances at hand.
The LNA General Command called on all airlines operating on these routes to abide by and adhere to these measures in order to preserve their continuity and its safety from the evil of terrorism and its supporters.
This came in a statement published on the Facebook page of the Command’s spokesperson.
On Wednesday, a security source said that an Afriqiyah Airways’ flight was prevented from landing at Sebha International Airport, after a military group deployed inside the helipad, forcing the pilot to return with the passengers to Mitiga International Airport.
