Libya’s Naval Forces Conduct Maritime Training Exercise

On Thursday, the Spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, announced that naval forces have begun conducting maritime training exercises.

“The training, which began on the 1st of October, will end on the 15th of October in the regions of Marsa Lak, and Tocra,” the statement noted.

“The training program includes firing with “surface-to-surface naval missiles, and naval artillery,” the statement added. The LNA warned all commercial ships, fishing boats, and other marine and military boats not to approach or enter the designated areas.

Last week, Egypt and France conducted joint naval drills in the Mediterranean. Egypt’s Tahya Misr frigate, participated alongside France’s Latouche-Treville frigate.

The drill comes within the framework of the Egyptian General Command’s plan to enhance their level of training, and exchange of expertise with the armed forces of friendly countries. These drills also come at a time when Egypt, Greece, France, and Cyprus are at odds with Turkey. This is over Ankara’s interference in Libya, and its oil exploration activities in the eastern Mediterranean.
