On Saturday, Ibrahim Bushnaf, the Interior Minister of the Libyan Interim Government, banned the use of buses and taxis in Libya as part of the measures being rolled out to prevent a Covid-19 outbreak.
Just last week, the minister ordered the closure of all shops, exempting vital businesses such as supermarkets and bakeries from this decision between 6am until 6pm. Pharmacies are allowed to operate as per usual.
The Prime Minister of Libya’s Interim Government, Abdullah Al-Thinni, confirmed yesterday the arrival of a large shipment of medical supplies to counter the emerging COVID-19 virus.
Following the outbreak of the virus in neighbouring countries, Libya’s governments have taken a series of precautionary measures to ensure they are prepared to face the growing international public health crisis.
