On Friday, the Chief of Staff of the Mauritanian Army received the Chief of General Staff of Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA), Muhammad Ali Al-Haddad.
After the reception, the Libyan delegation paid visits that included the General Command of the Army Staff and the Headquarters of the Executive Secretariat of the Group of Five for the Sahel (G5 Sahel).
The Mauritanian General Staff said that this visit comes within the framework of seeking to strengthen security and military coordination between Mauritania and Libya, in several fields.
Notably, the GNA Prime Minister, Fayez Al-Sarraj, announced on Friday that he retracts from his resignation and will continue to stay in office.
According to a statement made by his spokesman, Al-Sarraj said that he is keen on a smooth transition for the executive authority, “in order to ensure stability and to avoid any political vacuum.”
