GNA’s Sarraj Expresses Solidarity with Italy in Phone call with Conte

President of the Government of National Accord, Fayez Al-Sarraj, expressed his government’s and the Libyan people’s solidarity with that of the Italian people in their struggle against the Covid-19 epidemic.

In a phone call on Monday with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, he indicated his confidence in Italy’s ability to overcome the current crisis and helping in prevent the outbreak from taking place in Libya.

Conte expressed his gratitude and highlighted the friendship between the two people as well as praising the GNA’s precautionary measures to confront the global pandemic and wished the Libyan people safety in overcoming this ordeal.

President Al-Sarraj discussed the continuing developments in Libya, indicating that the battle for Tripoli continued, despite international calls for a humanitarian truce to combat the Covid-19 threat. Conte expressed his dissatisfaction and regret at the continuing hostilities, pointing out his Italy’s rejection of these violations.
