The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, stressed that addressing negative foreign interference, and supporting the ceasefire was necessary for the political transition process in Libya.

Le Drian emphasized in a press conference with his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, that foreign interference hinders UN efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis. He noted that supporting the political process in Libya will lead to elections in December 2021.

Notably, Egypt and France have rejected foreign intervention, as well as cooperation with militias and mercenaries in Libya, according to the Egyptian Presidential Spokesman, Bassam Rady. He added that the two countries supported a political solution, leading to elections for the interest of the Libyan people.

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi held discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, and senior French ministers in Paris. A number of important bilateral topics were discussed, including political, economic, and military issues, with Rady stating that the most important topic on President El-Sisi’s agenda was the Libyan conflict.
