The Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said that it is not possible to take any steps in Libya against Turkey’s will, according to the Anadolu news agency.

The Turkish FM commented yesterday evening on the sanctions imposed by the United States, due to the purchasing of Russian S400 missile systems.

“Our active foreign policy has made it impossible to take steps in Syria, Libya, eastern Mediterranean, the Caucasus, Afghanistan and Iraq without Turkey or against it,” he claimed.

He stated that Ankara, “was supporting dialogue and will continue to do so. We are seeking to protect our interests, and also achieve peace and justice in the field,” referring to battlefields such as Syria, Libya, Azerbaijan, and other trouble spots.

The United States imposed sanctions on the Turkish Defence Industries Corporation and its president, Ismail Demir, as well as a number of individuals against the backdrop of Turkey’s acquisition of the Russian S400 system. The US called on Ankara to back down before more sanctions are placed against Turkey.
