The Director of Moral Guidance in the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Khaled Al-Mahjoub, stated that the Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, confirmed his support for the ceasefire in Libya.

Al-Mahjoub added that Prime Minister Conte expressed respect for the results of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) regarding the expulsion of mercenaries within 90 days. He also stressed the need to commit to continuing the political dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations in order to unify Libyan institutions.

Al-Mahjoub pointed out that the PM also emphasized the need for national social reconciliation to preserve the country’s unity, in addition to security arrangements. “Disarming militias will quickly stabilize the country and help establish the state,” the PM said

The LNA Director explained that Prime Minister Conte stressed the need to focus on combating terrorism and illegal immigration, which pose a threat to the entire region.
