On Wednesday, the Military Information Division of the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), announced that forces affiliated to the Government of National Accord (GNA), had launched an attack on the Al-Wotya Airbase in western Libya.

In a statement on the Information Division’s Facebook account, said that the LNA managed to successfully repel the attack and inflict heavy casualties among the GNA’s forces.

It added that the Turkish backed GNA forces and their mercenaries do not respect any signed truce, cessation of hostilities or humanitarian treaties.

The LNA General Command had previously agreed to the international call for a humanitarian truce and ceasefire, in order to enable the local authorities to prepare for the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The truce was violated on the second day when GNA forces targeted the Al-Sharara area, north of Tarhuna city, with heavy shelling.
