LNA Takes Over Al-Maghawir Camp in Ubari

On Monday, the Libyan National Army (LNA) managed to take full control of the Al-Maghawir Camp in Ubari‎, after weeks of clashes with armed militias.

Ageela Al-Saber, a member of the Military Media Division stated that the LNA forces managed to expel the Government of National Accord (GNA) aligned Ali Kana, a Tuareg militia leader, from the camp. Al-Saber also informed that the LNA arrested three terrorists involved in kidnapping and extortion crimes in southern Libya.

Due to the camp’s strategic location in close proximity to the southern oil fields, Al-Maghawir could be used as a staging ground for attacks on such fields.

In a press statement, Al-Saber pointed out that the LNA gave the militias a deadline to withdraw, but they refused to do so.

He added that as soon as the LNA forces finished controlling the camp on Sunday morning, the Air Force inspected the Ubari and Murzuq regions to ensure they were fully secured.

Recently, the LNA has ambushed a number of extremist cells in Sebha, Ghadwa, Umm Al-Aranib, Murzuq, and Ubari.
