The Defense Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Salah Al-Namroush, claimed that his forces “still respect the ceasefire agreement sponsored by the international community.”

He said in a press statement, that the Libyan National Army (LNA) has “on more than one occasion tried to breach the ceasefire agreement and is still mobilizing forces.” He noted that “the GNA is ready to repel any aggression and respond to any attacks by the LNA. The GNA will not abandon Sirte or Al-Jufrah or any inch of Libya,” he added.

The Spokesman for the GNA’s military, Colonel Muhammad Gununu, added that they “will not accept any peace with criminals and aggressors.”

The two conflicting parties in Libya have escalated calls for war on the occasion of Libya’s 69th Independence Day.

The Commander-in-Chief of the LNA, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has threatened to use force against Turkish troops stationed in western Libya.
