The World Health Organization (WHO) in Sebha has started training doctors from hospitals and medical centers in southwestern Libya on how to deal with COVID-19.

This comes as preparations are being made by the organization in cooperation with the Health Services Administration of the Libyan government in the city.

Director of Medical Services Office, Ahmed Buazum, said that the programme includes doctors from all specialties.

The doctors will be trained on how to prevent the transfer of the virus through the medical professionals themselves.

He added that the doctors will practice methods of prevention, sterilization and disinfection, stressing that the main objective of the programme is keeping abreast of the situation and not allowing the virus to spread.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Health announced the launch of a training programme targeting 200 Libyan doctors affiliated with the Military Medical Agency to combat the Coronavirus epidemic. The programme was designed in coordination with the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

The NCDC approved a total of 35 doctors to work in the health isolation rooms allocated to quarantine suspected cases of COVID-19 in Libya.
