On Sunday, the Libyan National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 536 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 32,364.

In a statement, the NCDC also reported 21 new deaths, the highest death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country, raising the total fatalities to 520.

It pointed out that it received a total of 3,048 suspected samples, of which 536 tested positive, adding that 296 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Libya currently is 32,364, including 18,128 recoveries and 520 deaths, the centre confirmed.

Since the first case was announced in March, Libyan authorities have taken a series of precautionary measures against the pandemic, which include closing the country’s borders, shutting down schools and mosques, banning public gatherings and imposing a curfew.
