Tunisian President, Kais Saied invited the newly elected LibyanPresidency Council to visit Tunisia as soon as possible.

The invite was shared during a congratulatory telephone call between President Saied and the Head of the Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, on the formation of the new executive authority.

The Tunisian President affirmed that the decade-long crisis in Libya can only be settled through intra-Libyan talks. He reiterated that Tunisia has successfully hosted talks in November 2020 to contribute to ending the Libyan conflict. He also praised the “excellent relations between Tunisia and Libya,” expressing his wish to see this partnership develop further for the interests of both peoples.

On 5 February, members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) elected a new Prime Minister and a new Presidency Council during a voting session in Geneva. Mohamed Al-Menfi was elected as President, while Hamid Dabiba was named as Prime Minister. This transitional government will lead the country until national elections scheduled on 24 December 2021.
